Many people ask me why I’m such a champion of Wordpress rather than Blogger, Moveable Type, etc. So I’ll break down my personal reasons for preferring WP over the others, and perhaps it will help you make a decision on what platform is best for you. And with no further adue, Reasons I Love WordPress:
- WP is open source with an enormous community behind it. Whenever you have probelms, just turn to the forums for help.
- New plugins are developed weekly, keeping the versatility of WP fresh and interesting.
- Hundreds of free templates are available online and can be easily ‘hacked’ with only a basic knowledge of PHP.
- The base software is updated frequently, with 2.0 recently released. Each new version sees a wealth of upgrades, and the functionality surpasses and other blogger platform available.
It’s easy to use, free, supported and in a state of everflux. It has more features than any other related application, and is the best choice for folks with medium to high programming know how. Amateurs are better off using Blogger, but if you can hack the installation and rich admin backend, take WP for a spin. You won’t be sorry.

hey Dave, i got here from your squidoo lens (you have great lenses by the way!).
I love wordpress too. I’ve been wondering about something for a long time now, I was wondering if you could help – How does Wordpress make money? All that tweaking, developing, coding etc. must take plenty of man-hours and machine usage, all of which has to be paid for somehow. Just curious and hoping someone has an answer…?
